Company History

Saginaw Office Supply was founded on June 1, 1965 by Howard Caffey. As a local office supply store, SOS was located in downtown Saginaw. In 1975, SOS Messenger Service was created with only one vehicle delivering office supplies and airline tickets charging only $1 per delivery, but the company soon broke into the banking industry. The company became incorporated in the summer of 1979. After Howard passed away in 1980, daughter Cynthia Schwab to ok over operations. Cyndi took the small local business and transformed it into the large delivery business it is today. While today the business is a large success, it took many long nights and determination to help it grow. Though the company started out as a supply store, Cyndi had a vision of what the building bricks her father had laid could turn out to be. After the Michigan Public Service Commission deregulated the delivery industry, which eliminated the need to get permission from the state to expand a business, SOS Express opened its first satellite location in Flint. With only three weeks to complete another stage of expansion, two more offices were opened in 1994 in Grand Rapids and Lansing. Due to the lack of business in the west side of the state, the Grand Rapids location was closed after a couple years. Another location was opened in Livonia in 1995, quickly becoming our busiest location. The company currently has 70 small cars and minivans in its fleet and over 80 employees.
